German native and now resident of Scotland, Markus is a film-maker, photographer and the writer of several gravel and bikepacking books. An accomplished ultra-endurance racer his achievements include three successful finishes of the Highland Trail 550 (Scotland), along with single finishes of the Silk Road Mountain Race (Kyrgyzstan), Atlas Mountain Race (Morocco) and Mother North (Norway), plus cycling 34,000 kilometres unsupported around the world on a single-speed mountain bike for good measure. He is a founder of @bikepackingscot and has a designed several off-road routes in Scotland including the Capital Trail.
